Prečo názov „Bababudangiri“? Indický mních Baba Budan koncom 17. storočia po prvýkrát v živote ochutnal kávu. Bolo to v Jemene a káva ho očarila natoľko, že odtiaľ prepašoval zopár semien do Indie a vysadil ich v oblasti Karnataka. Neskôr po tomto mníchovi pomenovali celé pohorie Baba Budan Giri.
