This "special process" washed coffee was carefully hand-selected from lots of grade 1 seeds at the Idido Washing Station in Yirgacheffe, operated by Ardent Coffee Exporters. The care and attention comes through in the cup, with lots of peachy sweetness, dark caramel notes, and a slight floral nose that works well in a variety of preparations, even as an espresso. Ethiopia has the fourth-highest orphan population in the world, driven mainly by poverty, conflict, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
