Rwanda – Gitesi Washed
Honeysuckle, herbal tea, dried fruit Gitesi Washing Station sits in Rwanda's Western Highlands, on the edge of Lake Kivu, where father-and-son team Alexis and Aimé Gahizi built the station in 2005. Around 1,800 smallholder farmers bring their cherries here each harvest, and the Gahizi family pays a performance dividend back to the community at the end of every season. Almost all of the coffee grown here is Red Bourbon, hand-picked and washed the traditional way.
