Tasting Notes: Earthy, pungent, and spicy with notes of puer tea, black pepper and wild mushroom. Sumutra Aceh was the first coffee to be called "specialty coffee" by Erna Knutsen in the late 1960's, except they didn't call it Aceh back then. They called it Mandheling. The naming conventions in Sumatra have always been quite the conundrum as different vendors would label coffees based on geography, ethnic groups, and other arbitrary distinctions.
