Iris, Lourdes, and Ana Isabel Alvarado each inherited a plot of coffee trees from their grandfather, who was a coffee farmer and one of the early members of Capucas, which is itself one of the first coops in Honduras. Capucas has had its own microlot competition for nearly 20 years, and Dan has judged the competition many times. In 2020, the Alvarado sisters ( hermanas in Spanish) all rated in the top 10.
